Memory/Alzheimer Services
Our Memory Care/Recollections community is one of the Premier dementia care homes in Sonoma County so you will not have to question your loved one’s security or peace of mind. Residents are constantly monitored and encouraged to participate in daily activities. And like our Assisted Living residents, they are assigned a personal team of caregivers.
The Recollections community is a secured area. Each door to the outside is specially alarmed so if the proper door code is not used staff will be immediately alerted and the resident will be gently re-directed. We also offer a security wristband if elopement is a concern. And because Avalon is staffed around the clock, we can easily accommodate Sundowning behavior.
Serving the memory impaired requires understanding, patience and training. That’s why our staff is specially trained in dementia care – taught to recognize and react to symptoms and behavioral changes and always ready to work with family members to make sure all needs are met. Training is ongoing – monthly and/or as conditions change in the industry and new information about Alzheimer’s Disease and other types of dementia comes to light.
